Installation and Maintenance Instructions for Your Wheels
NGR Racing Products
At NGR Racing Products, we provide high-quality wheels designed for maximum performance and safety. Proper installation and regular maintenance are essential to ensure the longevity and reliability of your wheels.
Wheel Installation
For safe and correct installation, we recommend having your wheels fitted by a qualified mechanic or authorized dealer.
-
Preparation:
Remove the old wheels and thoroughly clean axles, bearings, and seals. Apply fresh grease to axles and seals before installing the new wheels to extend their service life. -
Fasteners:
Use only OEM or high-quality bolts and fasteners. Clean and degrease all bolts before installation. Use appropriate threadlocker such as blue Loctite (Loctite 243) on brake disc and sprocket bolts where required. Tighten all fasteners to the manufacturer’s specified torque values. -
Wheel Mounting:
Carefully mount the wheels onto your motorcycle, ensuring all bolts and nuts are securely tightened according to specifications.
Breaking in New Wheels
New or newly spoked wheels require a break-in period to ensure optimal performance and safety.
-
After the first 15–20 minutes of riding, check the spoke tension and tighten any loose spokes as necessary.
-
Ensure the wheels are completely cooled before adjusting spoke tension, especially due to heat from braking.
-
Use a torque wrench preset to around 4.5 N·m for tightening spoke nipples.
Re-check spoke tension after the second and third practice sessions. Spokes will typically settle and maintain tension after this period.
Wheel Maintenance
-
Spoke Tension: Regularly inspect spokes for looseness. Avoid over-tightening, as this can cause spokes to break due to loss of flexibility.
-
Lubricate Nipples: Apply a drop of oil to the spoke nipples during maintenance to prevent them from seizing.
-
Bearings and Seals: Clean and re-grease bearings and seals regularly. Replace worn bearings promptly to avoid hub damage and potential accidents.
-
Fasteners: Frequently check sprocket and brake disc bolts. Use high-quality bolts with appropriate threadlocker and tighten to the recommended torque.
